Connections: The Kirkman Family and Whitman College will be displayed from August 14 through September 13.

In a significant act of philanthropy, Isabella Kirkman bequeathed her home to Whitman College in 1919, reinforcing her family’s enduring commitment to the institution. This gesture aligned with Whitman’s drive to raise funds for a new dormitory on campus, which was subsequently named Lyman Hall.

This exhibit illuminates the story of Kirkman Hall and other surprising links between Whitman College and the Kirkman family.
