From May 23 through September 26, Semiquincentennial will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our nation in 1776.
This special display explores how Americans across generations have celebrated the ideals of liberty, self-government, and civic responsibility. Among the featured items are historic flags and books that illustrate how the story of American independence has been shared and preserved over time. The exhibit also includes a rare booklet and related materials from the patriotic Freedom Train, which stopped in Walla Walla in the late 1940s as it traveled across the country displaying historic documents and artifacts that symbolized the nation’s founding principles.
